APPLICATIONS: For tumbling, smoothing and polishing plastics in Dry Process Barrel Finishing. Also, may be used for drying parts in a two-part system with granular wood flake where corncob is problematical. Can be used with other granular dry media to build bulk density and cushion parts in the system.

Applications: For smoothing and radiusing plastic with abrasive in the Barrel Finishing Machinery. Can also be used with other Hardwood shapes (cubes, pegs, wedges) to provide more efficient surface contact for plastics, Barrel Polish Applications. Can be blended with Dry Granular Media in High Energy Equipment for greater mass or bulk of the mix.
There are several reasons why “Hardwood Media” is used almost universally in these types of applications. (1) Hardwood media is of the proper bulk-density to provide both the weight needed in the abrasive operation, and at the same time, provide the “cushioning effect” needed to prevent part-on-part impingement. (2) Hardwood media is an excellent coating-transfer medium, which is why it is depended on so heavily in polishing and waxing operations. (3) Retrievability – hardwoods media is a multi-cycle media that retains its effectiveness through many cycles. When compared with granular Media (corn cob meal, sawdust, etc.) which often retain their effectiveness for only one or, at best, a few processes cycles-its economic advantages become obvious.
Hardwood performs have been proven to be effective in a wide variety of applications for mass -finishing of materials as diverse as plastics, ceramics, wood, metals and other materials.
American Hardwood Media is one of the oldest forms of media in use today and has proven effective, durable and cost – efficient in a wide variety of applications.
